BOA Chicago Marathon 10-10-10

100 volunteer ham radio operators participated in the 33rd running on October 10, 2010.
At least two hams were from my radio club, The Metro Area Radio Club.
They are me K9KDE and Scott Irwin W8UFO. Scott was net control and I was in Aid Station 7.

A record 38,132 runners started the race. 36,159 crossed the finish line.
All photos by Henry Schleichkorn, K9KDE except for the photos of me which were taken by Patti KC9QZS.

We arrived at AS7 around 5:00am. We set up before the sunrise.
Why is Steve WI9ARC smiling so early in the morning?

The elite runners were way ahead of everyone else.
Here they pass mile marker 10.5.
The winner, Sammy Wanjiru is somewhere in this pack.

The wheelchair racers came whipping by.

This guy came running by pretty fast with two prostetic legs.

The radio communication in aid station 7 were taken care of by Patti Dambaugh KC9QZS (pictured),
